Using this in an older car and the quality of life gained is tremendous.Having android auto and carplay with a reversing camera brings my old beater into the current decade, but most importantly the dashcam for safety and deterrence of problematic drivers/would-be thieves. The straps around the unit is very study and doesn't wiggle, basically makes the unit one with my previous mirror. Works as a normal mirror when the system is off.Installation can be simple, but more work needs to be done if you want it to look nice/work well. Three main connectors to the unit (GPS, Reverse Camera, Power). They give you two options for mounting the reversing camera. I opted for routing it to my trunk and drilling a hole because I needed a proper backup/reverse camera. If you do not that need, you can stick it to your back windshield and use it just for the dashcam feature. Note you must not have tint if you want to do it this way. I had questions on how to do the installation, so I contacted customer service. First via the phone, but the rest through email. They were very prompt and came back with images and installation videos. (I ended up crimping instead of soldering + 3M tape and screws) The gps dongle sits at the top right of the car window via 3M tape. The power cord runs directly down to the cigarette lighter for me. I like to make it noticeable as a deterrent while driving and parked. On initial boot, it wants you to reformat the memory card (it came with one). I followed the prompt and it walked me through connecting my phone to the device without hassle. After the initial setup, it recognizes my phone every time and the startup isn't as tedious as my previous android auto system (5 secs vs 40 secs). I use the bluetooth transmitter to connect it to my car's audio. The camera works well enough, even at night. You slide the screen to scroll through the different ui interfaces, I like having half android auto, half back camera, but you can make it full screen back view for maximum safety. When I look at the memory, all the footage is there and playable. Hopefully the unit lasts awhile. It seems to be the only reservation on the product, but my customer service interaction has been pleasant and attentive- if the time comes to use the warranty, I am thinking they will take care of me.
